How Do You Read the Bible?

How do you read the Bible?  Do you read it as though it's just a literary work, a book of long-ago myths?  Do you read it as a manual?  Is it a how-to book so that you can attain a life of purpose and personal fullfillment?  Do you read it because someone told you that you have to, or God will not come to your aid?  Do you read it as a check list?  Is it the way that you tally all the good things you have done, and make public what a good person you are?  Are you determined to be in the Book of Life because you've read the Bible cover to cover, inside out and have memorized a million verses?  Or do you just want to know Jesus and His love for you, and not only you, but the whole world?  Here's "What the Bible is Bascially About!"

Very worth listening to. I read the Bible using a dated program of reading through the Bible as one of my Bible reading times...and the current one started in 2 Chron and I sort of mentally groaned a little but it has been amazing. And how when you read the OT you just find it hard to believe those who did believe with so little back up but went and told others about their God but more so how the Jews could have missed the point of the whole story.

I am working/enjoying my third time through cover to cover. I was smacked by the Holy Spirit about 20 months ago and I find the Bible a great and wonderful Word. Scripture. Not a manual. Not literature (even though it is in a sense). I rely on God's Word to help my unbelief and strengthen my love. After the last read through by December I will feel better aquatinted with it and shall use, learn, enjoy and be in the Word as I am called. Sure would be silly to call upon God's Word an say "I meant to read what is written, but I hear it says..."
