One Fits All

A few years ago my daughters were reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (in Japanese, of course). My Japanese is not at the native level, so I usually have to ask my children what they are reading - a very backward way to parent, I know. It sounded like an interesting story. Four childhood girls friends and one pair of pants, how the pants are worn by each in turn as they journey through life, and how the pants keep them all together as friends even after they've grown and separated.

Here's an article that takes a look at how those magical pants are like our Lord, Jesus Christ. Now I'm thinking I had better work more on my Japanese, so I can read that book, too. Or, I could search for the English original, couldn't I? It's been made into a movie now, so another option is to wait for it to come out in DVD.

Scream & Shout!

I've heard of screaming in your pillow, but here's a festival in Oita, Japan where you can get rid of your stress! There are festivals around the country for just about everything.

This is harder than I thought it'd be!

This is harder thatn I thought it'd be!

What fun! The line above is the title of this post in Webdings font. I look at all those senseless symbols and feel like that's just about how I understand how to get my blog going.

Should this be public or private? Should it be personal or reserved. Should I be this, say that, or forget the whole thing? I sit down to focus on some aspect on how to begin, then wander from one question/answer to another. Then my computer time is up, another household chore needs doing, and when I get back here one of my children says, "Hey, it's my turn now, Mom!" Like now.

I'll try again tomorrow!

But before I sign off, I'll mention that today my father-in-law turned 86! And I also remember one of my brothers-in-law, who would have been 53 today. Missing him, but even more than that, praying that the Lord's comfort will bless my sister (his widow) as she thinks of him today.

Someday Has Come!

Today I begin my blog. How's that for a boring debut? I have no idea what I'm doing, and less idea as to why. There are a lot of blogs out there, and I like to read many of them. Surely there is nothing new under the sun, and I am not one to have anything deep or profound to say. Yet, there is only one of me, and some people may want to have my news and views. (I hope.)

So here goes. Someday I'm going to (fill in the blank)! Instead of waiting for the right time and the best comments, I'll just go ahead and try this thing called blogging. Even if for no one else, I will write so that I might remember what I have done, where I have been, and why I have been put here!
