Anata made this great structure where we hang peeled persimmons out to dry. This morning he went out to check on them, and some clever critter(s) got into it and took HALF of our treats! What a BUMMER! I'm guessing it was a monkey (or 2 or 3!), and they sure are lucky. We need to think again for next year.

The only other time I've seen a set up like that was on a program (t.v.) with Huell Howser. He was interviewing some Japaneese-American Persimmon farmers in Cal. who dried and made these sugary trats.
Yoy guys are awesome! I would never have taken on a job like that.
Keep up the good work and keep those monkeys out o' there!
that's 'treats!' (not trats)
Thanks, Steve. Actually I, myself, would not have gone to all this trouble. But I have to admit, I'm the first one to go for a dried persimmon.
Oh what a shame.
I saw those dehydrating units, round trays that stack in 'Deals Direct the other day and was almost tempted.
Have plums ripe and apricots ripe but too high to reach so was watering and ate the ones that had fallen and /or were low. Am proud of that tree...grew it from seed.
Jane,
I'd love to dry apricots! Now you've got me on the lookout for an apricot tree. Anata will be so happy with me! ;-)
